I have a Logitech M310 USB 2.0 wireless mouse and it has no problem with
the native USB 3.0 on my HP Pavilion desktop. I have a USB 3.0 adapter
on a Dell XP-410 (the XP machine I converted to Win7). It also has a
Logitech M310 wireless mouse. That machine was mothballed getting ready
for the upcoming move so it was only used for a couple of hours after
the Win7 conversion. However, I didn't detect any problems with the
mouse when I was testing it after the conversion.
Is your USB 2 mouse's receiver still plugged into the native USB 2
adapter? If so you might want to try plugging it into one of the USB 3
adapter's ports. Also, on my wireless mice I bring the receiver up to
the desk top with a USB extension cord to shorten the distance between
mouse and receiver. I actually loop the cord around the base of the
monitor to hold it in place and that positions mouse and receiver only
about 2-1/2 feet apart.
If it still doesn't work maybe you'd like to try a Logitech M310. Mine
is exactly like this one. The blue one is a buck or two cheaper than
the other colors.

I tried to find what the USB 3.0 adapter was that I installed on the
Dell but can't find any order info on either Newegg or Amazon (my normal
sources). Perhaps I bought it from the local computer parts shop.
Anyhow the machine is now about 750 miles away and I can't open it up to
check it. I won't see it again until late November.

I've tried two different usb3 add-on cards and they won't play nice with
