Firefox's warning of an "unresponsive script" is usually due to a "race
condition" where you have tried to shut something down and then restart
it before the shutdown of the first instance has completed.
I would try shutting down and restarting Firefox. If that doesn't help
use the task manager to check whether any other zombie version of
Firefox is still running and kill it if it is. If that doesn't work
reboot the whole system. If that doesn't help I don't have a clue.
I uninstalled Adobe AIR and TPE (in that order) but only after I tried
using the web version. Of course, Air and TPE were not running (because
I hadn't started them). I suppose AIR and the original TPE could
interfere with the web versions but I don't know that.

Maybe I should start with Add-On disabled ... but why should I ...?
Works fine anywhere else.

From the link above, I suppose AIR was one among several reasons why
it came to be included as part of any browser.
I was planning to use it today.
Guess what?
It is making the latest Firefox to crash when loading its own Tab.
I think it to be an issue related to the Shockwave Flash plug-in (it
frequently makes FFox to crash, under particular circumstances which I
fail to understand).
So ... what's the deal for me? ... AIR or Flash?
Bah!

the fact that
it used Adobe AIR was problematic since it seems that Adobe AIR gets
