Probably the reason most fall in that range, is because that's where OM
was the strongest. Despite the wow factor of 180/2, 250/2, etc., Canon
definitely ate their lunch in the world of fast teles. Even contemporary
testing from Modern Photo, et al., confirmed this.
Wides and Macros were really the best of the OM line, I'd say. Fast
normals and short teles were good too but a lot of people did those well
also.
My favorites, in no particular order:
18/3.5, 21/2, 24/2.8, 40/2, 50/1.2, 55/1.2, 90/2
Still have: 24/2.8, 28/2, 35/2, 50 1.8, 1.4, 1.2, 55/1.2, 135/4.5 macro.
Sold off most of the rest, just wasn't using them much any more (mostly MF
and LF now.)
