If visiting these days, be aware that the firm operating the original
Maid of the Mist boats lost out in contract bidding in 2012, and the
name is now only attached to boats operating from the American side. If
you are on the Canadian side, look for Hornblower Niagara Cruises.
Dones't really have the same ring to it...

have been on it perhaps 10 times--usually on edge of the tourist
season. It is "touristy" but getting that close to the Horseshoe falls
is always impressive and awakens the inner 10 yo.
It is a good place for looking for images.

The Niagara escarpment has a special microclimate uniquely good for
vineyards and wineries. There are a bunch to visit along the River.
