I haven’t read the text book on landings with gear partly extended, but he
seems to have done a pretty good job (any landing you can walk away from etc .
. .).
He didn’t need to stop the engine on the approach, but he could have stopped it
in the flare. And landing with flaps up would have made it easier to keep the
prop clear of the ground for longer.
But it all worked fine just the way he did it.
