Some time back, someone on this list (for some reason I think it was Jez, but
remain unsure) referenced a blog titled World Wide Words.

I have been enjoying this blog since. In the 5 July issue, the writer remarked
that he might use a particular word (from a discussion of closets and cupboards
and such), but it wasn’t in his idiolect. I was enchanted by the definition as
found when selecting the world and right-clicking look up: the speech habits
peculiar to a particular person.
But I wondered if, on this list, it might also be true that the definition
would be: the speech habits particular to a peculiar person.
