Clifford Stone and Masonry has been in Valpo since 1954. This year, Joe
Clifford finally decided to retire. I've been buying flagstone to
finish the surround for our pond, and have been thinking about some sort
of photo to commemorate.
Yesterday I was there one last time - he closes for good this Tuesday
with an auction to sell off what's left at the end of the month. I
asked Joe if he'd be willing to pose for a photo with the stoneyard in
the background, and he agreed. Was concerned, since the sun was fairly
harsh, even with the clouds, and it was about 10AM so it was still in
the East. Problem was the stoneyard was also to the East... so while
Joe wasn't squinting into the Sun, I was shooting sorta into the Sun.
Fortunately, it worked (with a touch of fill flash and some
slider-jockeying in LR).
I'm pretty content with the shot. We're going to get it printed and
framed and give him a copy (he goes to Sheri's church and is on her
money-counting team, so she'll give it to him then).

Enjoy. C&C encouraged.
