The more your computer tasks are within the browser or an app, the less important the OS becomes from a user perspective. So fashion gets more important ;-). I suspect most of the readers on this list are of the generation that *had* to know a lot more of the technical sides of a PC in order to be productive then current generations need to know. At least for my children computers are 'black boxes' then enable them to surf, play games and do some office tasks (also more and more in the browser). But then it could also be the lousy school system over here ;-).
