A cynic might suggest that the 'glow' was in fact veiling flare which Leica
neatly redefined as a feature rather than a fault. Once the camera did not
matter as the image was an interaction between the lens and the film - the
camera was just the machine and so long as the bits worked, no problem. But now
the 'film' is the sensor/processor and the available settings, the camera is
much more important in the character of the image.
