This is another area where we went backwards with digital cameras. I
got so very spoiled by the mirror-chamber metering of the OM system.
Then with DSLRs, we reverted to the dark ages of metering off the
focus screen.

Fortunately, this is no longer an issue with mirrorless cameras.
