I've had that same problem with the E-500/510 and I've learned to place my
thumb over the viewfinder when setting the exposure time. For serious closeups
I use a hand-held light meter such as a PR-1 or the LunaPro with the spot
attachment.
Wish I could find a round eyecup for the E-500/510 similar to the Eyecup
1. I have one of those and I cannot see a way to adapting it without doing
some serious machining.
