Ah, we don't ourselves have the snake scarers, unless you count cooling
temperatures "with a chance of snow about the peaks" as snake scarers. And the
very thing that drives the snakes away/asleep is, I suspect, the thing that
finds the mice seeking warm comfort in our roof (and maybe the
now-empty-so-now-infra-dig chook shed?). Our terriers, while possibly effective
against snakes (not that I'd encourage it), are much less effective as ratters
in the roof - a size-and-weight thing :). That and they've enthusiasm for
ratting bigger "rats" now (wallabies, roos, deer, horses... I've quickly
acquired some fencing skills).
So Ratsak or traps is all I've got at the moment.
