Now that the grain has been tames I like it very much. And I assume that was starting from Tina's JPEG rather than the original image.

Well, I certainly didn't add any grain!  I have scanned thousands of rolls
of Kodachrome.  Depending on the light, sometimes grain is evident in the
scan, sometimes it is not.

I like grain.  Digital is too plastic looking most of the time.

Kodachrome
and Tmax were my favorite films - lots of nice grain.
