I had the same problem with "World War Z", where they went back and forth
between an Antonov AN-12 and a C-130, plus a carrier landing and takoff by one
or the other. Yes, I know that they did it with a C-130B on the USS Forrestal.
Then the AN-12/C-130 flies nonstop from the carrier to Israel. At least you
got to see a lot of the interior of an AN-12.
The Soviets stopped making the AN-12 around 1979, but the Chinese still
make a nice knock-off in a variety of versions. An the end of Soviet
production, the AN-12 had 5,000 SHP engines whereas the C-130 did not have that
much power until the current J model.
Always got a kick out of the tail gunner position on the AN-12. Fat lot
of good that did.
