I couldn't promise that we would do the same now, but we used towelling nappies
for our 2 from 1980 to 1986 (approx). When they were no longer needed they
were household cleaning cloths for a decade afterwards.
And I was in charge of the initial nappy change, the green gummy one . . . :-)
