I believe it's because BT TV also comes through the same box and it would
quickly overrun any data caps. (Although I'm on an unlimited (fair-use)
tariff.) I'm led to understand that by controlling the DNS they can see
where the data is coming from, control the Quality of Service, and exclude
it from their counting.
