Me? I had dinner with a rock star.
Derek St. Holmes, lead singer/songwriter and guitarist with Ted Nugent's
band, is playing a solo acoustic show for me at the theatre tomorrow
night. He came into town this afternoon, and I took him to dinner tonight.
I'm kicking myself, though, because the lighting sconce on the wall next
to him was throwing awesome side-lighting on his face that would have
made for a spectacular portrait, but I had told my brain ahead of time
that we were just two guys out to dinner, talking shop, and I wasn't
going to do the photo thing.
I should have explained that the photo part of my brain saw a terrific
shot and would he mind if I took it, but sadly, the "adult" part of my
brain won the argument.
I will, however, take plenty of photos tomorrow evening, so you're
forewarned.
I realize that his boss is, shall we say, a bit more of a loose cannon
these days than in the past, but Derek himself is a wonderful guy.
As a longtime fan of Nugent's music, especially the stuff Derek wrote
and sang on, it was another one of those "pinch me" moments.
