Brian my archive HD has a folder for each old OS drive. I just plugged
them in to the new machine (or new install) and copied after deleting
garbage. I can easily dig up an old file there. Some of the old
programs will even still run from there. The old HD's are on a shelf in
the garage if needed. These old files take up a tiny bit of space on
newer drives.
Win31 ??mb
Win 98se 2gb
Win XP 66gb
I use a harness to connect legacy drives like IDE hd's, floppy drives,
etc. that won't fit in a toaster. I even used it to connect an old DVD
player I had in a box in the garage so I could install to my tablet
which lacks a DVD player. It consists of a pig tail with IDE, floppy,
sata connectors to usb2. Power supply with molex or sata. Ain't pretty
but works like a charm. I can even hook up my old 5½" drive. (like I
ever will)
