Fortunately, the People's Republic of Iowa was settled a couple
hundred years later. We got the non-religious types here. The dominant
churches here were the Catholic and Lutheran churches, but mostly were
churched as a result of the Second (Methodists) and Third Great
Awakening. But even so, there is a pretty strong dichotomy of
religious and secularism here that contradicts the "religious nut-job"
persona that we have according to the east/west coast crowd that
consider us all to be hayseed hicks.
Well...
I'm kinda hayseedy at times, but Joel is not a hick.
