Interesting. I'll pass that name on. A few years ago the directors of
our local utility coop OPALCO had the good sense to lay fiber at the
same time they were laying a new power cable. Over the the cacophony of
the conservative alarmists. Recently they proposed spending 50 million
and providing a communications network as well as power. Made sense to
some of us but the general response was lukewarm at best. Most people
were looking at the $10 per month infrastructure surcharge. Then the
CenturyLink cable fiasco hit and a little investment didn't look so
crazy. OPALCO was able to transfer about 60% of the county's traffic to
that "waste-of-money" cable. All of a sudden people are thinking ahead
more than 30 days.
