My husband commuted back and forth to Chicago from South Carolina before we
finally moved there. I was held hostage in Chicago for two years before we
moved back to SC. I'm not a cold climate or big city person. We bought a
farm in the northwestern suburbs and could cross-country ski from our door
through a forest preserve to a tavern. That made it almost worth living in
Chicago. We did enjoy taking the train downtown to see the Christmas
decorations, but getting anywhere was a hassle. And it was so COLD!!
I also lived in Virginia for several years. I would choose Virginia over
Chicago any day but that's because I'm a Girl Raised In The South - GRITS.
