You won't. Just as the serial number on the bottom plate is no indication of which body it originally came from, so the top plate is unreliable too - I have it on excellent authority that certain Olympus service agents would replace a damaged top plate with whatever was available. Beware Irishmen bearing gifts of M-1 bodies!
