My FIL was one of the very first farmers in Iowa to go to the round bales.
He continued to do some square bales for years after for resale only. His
own operation was 100% round. It entirely changed the labor economics. One
person could do everything solo. It enabled him to run about 70 head of
cattle with no help way into his retirement years.
