That's exactly what it does: a full backup the first time you run it, followed
by incremental ones every time thereafter. The trouble starts when the
'increment' is so far removed from the original that it can't complete. Each
incremental backup (when you browse the TM folder) presents itself as a full
backup to the viewer to make going back easier, but each one is incremental
