Got myself up early Sunday to catch the eclipse visible on the east
coast. I used The Photographers Ephemeris to pick a location that had a
chance of putting something of interest in the foreground. I was hoping for
one of the big cranes at the port but had to settle for some ground
equipment. The local weather man was calling for clear morning skies but I
missed the fact that it would be 50 degrees. I left the house in shorts and
t-shirt. The dock I shot from is about 200 feet out into the river where
there was a steady 15 mph breeze. I got set up about 20 minutes before
sunrise so I was pretty chilled at sunup. But it was worth it. I used my
Oly DZ 50-200 with a home made Thousand Oaks filter: high-tech filter
material mounted in a Quaker oatmeal box.
