Last night I went to a performance by our little local orchestra CORO (Central
Otago
Regional Orchestra), which was held in the Catholic Church in Alexandra.
It's a very intimate setting where it is possible to get very close to the
performers. I was in the
3rd pew back from the front, and a mere 2.5 metres away from the star artist in
the last item;
movements 1 and 2 of Beethoven's Violin Concerto.
The star artist was Cathy Irons. The performance was STUNNING and being so
close it was
an amazing sound that this slight lady with slim arms and tiny hands produced
from the violin.
Her fingering was incredible to see.
There's another performance at 3 pm today just 20 minute's drive away in
Cromwell, and I
have a free ticket ... :-) I want to buy a couple of her CD's and at $15 ea
they should be a
snip.
I plan to use the E-3 and the Zuiko 50/1.8, and the Zuiko 100/2 to grab a shot
or two.
