Thanks, Paul and Bob. The venue was a nice restaurant with a piano in a
window nook. The lighting was actually pretty harsh. I had to fool with
a bit of negative "clarity" to get the image to look like the woman my
eyes saw.
This was a labor of love and a gift. Kari is a talented composer and a
wonderful person. I brought my camera and asked if it would be OK to
photograph, no flash of course. So now they have a record of the event
taken by someone who knows music and photographed unobtrusively and with
respect to the music. Both she and the singer were thrilled. I love it
when that happens.
Paul, I'm sure you understand, since you do it, too. Different music,
but the same approach. I would have preferred to use my Leica M8, as it
can capture split seconds better than an EVF camera. And in this light,
my manual RF focusing would probably have nailed a few more than the
Oly's autofocus. But the M8 shutter is much too loud for an intimate
performance like this. And the E-M5 looks much better at ISO 1600,
which was needed.
