They are four bassoon reeds held in a makeshift wire rack in an ultrasonic
cleaner. I have a cleaner just like it - but, thankfully, no bassoon reeds to
clean. My trombone won't fit.

I can say, as one that once played the instrument, those are bassoon reeds.
What they are in I don't know, as things change with time. Double reed
players are even more neurotic than clarinet players or trumpet players, so
there's always some new scheme to give them an edge over other players.
Oh wait, that's photographers, too!
