I missed this at the time you posted it, Brian, as I was away - in Auckland,
which I hope qualifies me for a bye! It's an inspirational sequence of
crocus openings, I have many times thought of doing the same thing.
You describe the 135/4.5 as "Scots modified" - if I remember aright, that
lens was stripped of the black finish on the front tube (it wasn't me, guv,
and I don't think it was Skip Williams - from whom I bought it - either).
Have you 'modified' it further by restoring the black finish? Good to hear
of how the 'children' are faring. I'll be seeing another of them at the
weekend.

Thanks Joel. Yes, the blues are a bit pale. Worse with the Sigma lens.
All these flower shots were made using manual (ie non-digital) lenses, and
my experience with them, compared with using digital lenses, on digital E
bodies, is that the colour rendition can be a bit of a lottery. From memory
one of those uploaded shots could be bluer than the others because I
tampered with it ...
Poetic licence.
Maybe I should have shot the Sigma exposures in RAW, because in my opinion,
compared with the shots made using the 135/4 macro ( obtained all the way
from Piers in Scotland), they are washed-out, and have more highlights.
Manual focussing, especially when upside-down over an E camera at ground
level can also be a bit of a lottery ...
