Nope. I noticed it too and is the primary reason for my redoing it.
One thing I like about the low-cost (no-cost) editors/converters is
that you get to experiment and see some wild and whacky settings very
easily. Great for "proof of concept" creations. But I then go into the
quality tools to duplicate the look, but at a higher quality. The
higher-end tools don't give you those same wild settings as easily.
Lightroom is close, though. But Lightroom still makes mincemeat out of
DMC-L1 files.
The DMC-L1 is highly susceptable to banding. You see it in high-ISO
shots, as well as shots where you crank the contrast and brightness
curves around too much. Not nearly as forgiving as the E-1 in that
regard.
