I was wandering the internet some time ago, only to discover that I'd been to
see the prime candidate for largest
diameter tree in the world. It's in a dusty, little town outside of Oaxaca, on
the way to the Mitla ruins.

Actually, the Wikipedia pics make the location look spiffier than in 1982. I
suppose the World heritage attention has
changed things. Probably a destination now.
I'm sure I took a couple of pics, and equally sure they give no real sense of
the tree.
