My first real job was at as a forecasting analysis at an electric utility in
Tampa, FL, between 1987 and 1990. During my first few months, while chatting
with a colleague, the question of religion came up, because she asked me what
church I attended. I said that as a Jewish atheist, I attended neither church
nor synagogue. From her reaction, I could just as well have told her that I was
a child molester.
In questions such as this, I find Spain or Denmark (just to pick two European
countries I know very well) much less conformist than the US.
Cheers,
Nathan
