I haven't checked in a few days but a "nightly build " added RAW Histo
and RAW Zebra!!!!!
(pre-alpha)
Only cam to date with REAL RAW histo has a a red dot.
Histo on all Canyon Cams has been from a JPEG!!!!! So with Raw Zebra
one can see where
in the image it is clipped--if it is clipped in that, the data is gone.
Along with this has Auto ETTR-----automatically (with adjustable
parameters) expose to the right based on analysis of the true raw data
coming off the sensor. In manual mode, you set ISO, Aperture and SS,
ML will determine the optimum ISO and shutter speed needed to maximize
the S/N ratio without clipping any highlights. You can set a minimum
shutter speed you do not want to go below, you can also set it to allow
a percentage of clipping in each channel if you desire. That is from a
very very cursory look at it while at work.
Audio notes can be added to images by hitting set button, but not
ported to all cams.
With a pre alpha version of ML the 50D can shoot 14 bit RAW video and
the cam doesn't shoot any video w/o ML AFAIK!! This group is amazing.
Some of this has been ported to 5Dclassic but I haven't checked to see
if it is a stable release
in awhile. Might want to wait a bit any bugs to be ironed out.
Canyon should hire them. There seems to be a possible weird
understanding that if the hackers leave the flagship models alone, they
won't try to block the hacks like Panny. One would bet they will
co-opt some of these features for future firmware/models.
Lightmeter, schmightmeter, use ETTR direct from sensor data.
