Got any old cameras or meters using selenium cells? I ran across this
trick this morning on the Yahoo camera-fix list. Maybe some day I'll
try it on my non-metering first ever camera... a Petri 7s.
"One other tip for anyone with any selenium cell light meter if you
haven't used it for a while, is to leave it in room light (NOT bright or
sunlight!!!) running for a week or two... George said that the cells
develop oxides while sitting in the dark that will "burn off" when
exposed to light, and give the proper output to the meter movement... He
would take any selenium meter brought in for calibration, and give it
light exposure for a week before any tweaking... "
