It's a continuing, moot point, I believe. But since there are several members
and employees of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds closely involved
with the installation, the anwser must be "no". The blades of a turbine do
reach pretty high speeds, but it's probably the larger ones that are the
problem.
Preparation for the application for permission to instal the turbine had to
include a study into the habits of the local birds, their migration routes etc
. . .: this study found that there would be little or no interference with them.
