Doesn't seem to make any sense when you can buy a nice film SLR with 
50mm lens on ebay for about the same price.  Thinking about the 
ubiquitous Pentax K1000 I did a Pentax SLR ebay search and the first 
thing that popped up was a BIN K1000 with 50mm for exactly the same 
price of $35.
