In the days before our retreat last weekend, my desktop computer was acting up.
It would die during boot-up more often
than not.
With much else to do, I simply left it on for a few days. Sure enough, once off
for the long weekend, it was not going
to turn on again. A check of the one it replaced showed that it had an
identical form factor power supply, albeit with
fewer connections on the main power plug and no SATA power connections.
A bit of internet research (on the netbook+) showed that the added connections
are to provide more +5v current capacity,
which I didn't think my modest machine would need. With a couple of SATA power
adapters I had lying around, I was soon
up and running.
