I think France has the longest VFT network in Europe and only started
building it in the 1970s - Paris Lyons, if I'm not mistaken
It now takes 82 mn to get from the heart of Paris to downtown Metz
where I usually reside in the week, that's about 200 miles. No airline
can offer that. also, s the line runs parallel to the motorway in
part, you do feel stupid when you're driving at 130km/h and get
overtaken by a train that cruises at more than twice your speed ....
