I think we're seeing two things happening. Adobe has been making
Lightroom a very photographer-centric program, whereas Photoshop has
become something generally so unwieldy as to be overkill for all but a
random few photographers. Lightroom will continue to evolve and in
reality, Photoshop CSx is an overpriced pig for most. WHY bother?
Photoshop Elements isn't half bad of a program for those who want to
do some editing that can't be done in Lightroom.
The licensing aspect of Photoshop CSx is actually a very good thing
because it allows businesses to right-size to the staffing. When I add
a person to my staff I just get the license and when I no longer have
that person on staff, I terminate to don't renew it. This is the
licensing model that "real" system providers use.
But, let's revisit this in 20 days. I'm half expecting a "mea culpa".
