As the article infers, flash memory *drives* are still more expensive
per bit than disks. However, it goes on to say "... that flash
technology has reached an economic tipping point such that it's already
cheaper than most spinning disks when you take into account power,
cooling, floor space and software costs..."
For big data centers the time is now to invest in flash memory. For we
home users (not burdened by power, cooling, floor space and software
costs) it may also be desirable for performance reasons but not
necessarily economic... just yet. But the time is coming.
