You should be able to find one in a shop in the big city. Heft it, and think
how you are planning to use it.
I LOVE mine, but will not carry it on my person very far. I can happily carry
the tripod and head I mentioned on a strap
over my shoulder for five miles. The 410 is not only much heavier, but an
awkward shape. It may be perfect for you, but
you might check it out first. :-)

Long discontinued, I guess. The one in the UK is just what I have, mine with an
A-S style QR clamp on it. They still
make the same basic mechanical design, but all now seem to be with their own QR
mechanisms built-on.
Their small QR plate system is actually pretty good. If I had switched to a
lighter camera sooner, I might well still be
using them. With the 5D, the holding power was just fine, and it's quick and
easy to use. But there was enough flex in
the overall attachment to make precise framing at longer focal lengths
troublesome.
The thing to understand about this sort of clam shell design is that there is
no tension screw, or anything else fancy.
One should never release the clamp lever without the other hand holding the
camera, as the ball goes loose, as does
azimuth. The same lever locks and unlocks all movement.
I'm content with that way of operation, esp. as it allows a very small, light
head.
Much the same thing, with tripod screw operated by nice, big thumb whee,l seems
to be available from a telescope company
as Vixen Polarie QHD-33 Velbon Ball Head for Tripod 35509.

I can't say what will work for you. I can say that I did a lot of on-line
research and had a pretty good idea what I was
going to buy. Then, I'm lucky, because the large student population and
artistic community supports a real photo shop
here. I went down to confirm my choices. NOPE! The Manfrotto jammed in rotation
really easily. Some other one, Gitzo?
was heavy and awkward. The only one I liked was this Velbon. I've been using
it, with various QR systems attached, for
many years.
