Yikes--2 sec only for vib reduction for those models. I have been
paying attention as we do need a new horse/purse cam. Firm grip with 2
hands on the cam not always possible on a horse.
Harumph. We'll have to make due on our upcoming trip but that is about
it.
Have been hoping an electronic first curtain option would appear as
that would seemingly eliminate the issue.
Curiously Canyon and Sony have had them available for quite awhile.
The "silent" mode for LV I think on Canyon is that.
The NEX 5n (and others) has that option that can be turned off---it is
very very quiet in that mode.
Interestingly all is not sweetness and light with the E first curtain.
Some large diameter lenses at fast shutter speeds result in part of the
frame unevenly lit--reminiscent of inadequate synch speed with
flash--vanishes with the e-electronic first curtain option turned off.
The manual says a "light colored band" in the center of the frame may
be seen though it doesn't always look like that. I saw one example on
FM with a 400/6.8 lens
at 1/3200 sec showing the issue. Weird, but little time to investigate
the mechanism. Any clue? Still an Oly electronic first curtain MFT
option would be very welcome given this shutter shock blur from the
complex shutter dance required. The very first 1st curtain activation
seems to be the culprit it seems.
New horse cam soon for the CVO or it is curtains, Mike
