Clearly a personal ergonomics thing. I can't imagine hanging extra size and
weight on this beautiful little camera, nor
around my neck.
The E-M5 has completely changed the experience of carrying an interchangeable
lens camera for me. I use a light, simple
strap. I never find my neck and/or shoulders aching. I never even think about
the shoulder harness I bought when
carrying the 5D.
After getting the 300D, I did start mounting a Winder on OMs. I had enough
trouble remembering to wind on before
digital; after was impossible. :-) And yes, there is a certain satisfying
solidity there, especially if I want to fend
off a mugger - or perhaps mug someone for their small, light camera.
But it's only a few minutes before my neck and shoulders regret it, and only a
short holding it steady with a long lens
or zoom before my hands and arm regret it.
So yes, there are many people out there who enjoy adding heft to their cameras.
And those of us who would rather carry a
couple of small, light batteries in our pocket.
