I recall with some wistfulness my tour of duty in Asmara, Ethiopia (now
Eritrea), when, in the blissful arrogance of ignorance, I sat in downtown cafes
drinking coffee in the land that gave us coffee. But I didn't know that at the
time. I just drank the coffee. Now? Sigh. My body no longer allows the
pleasure. I can drink the occasional decaff, but it ain't the same without the
kick.
