Yet, I find you slightly biassed on the flare issue :-)
and since this is an Oly list, the following take was shot on the same
streets using the ZD 50-200 on a Pana L1.

Positioning oneself in the shade, or using a hood helps a lot in those
circumstances ...
And when you don't or you can't - other gear, same place, wider angle
- a little flare may sometimes even help a pix ;-)
