For the time being, I've only the 12-50. I would recommend the EM-5 +
12-50, which means the lens costs about $300 (less, of course, if you
can find the kit on special). I was lucky to find the kit for $1045, and
recently it was down around $1099. The little flash comes as part of
the kit here.
I've used the Pen 38/1.8 as a fast lens within 12-50mm range. For 50mm+,
however, I really don't know what to do for a native lens or lenses. A
fast zoom would be nice (i.e., Panny 35-100. but too expensive to
justify); fast AF is also nice to have in low light, social situations.
The 40-150 gets OK reviews, is reasonably priced (regularly $299), but
I don't think I like the idea of a plastic mount.
When I have time to focus, I can use the Pen 70/2 and 100/3.5, or the
50/1.4, 100/2 and Tammy 180/2.5 etc for faster speeds at the long end. I
have rarely carried anything longer than 180 (except airshows), so they
would be fine. I have not yet tried the Tammy 80-200/2.8 (or any legacy
zoom for that matter), as setting the IBIS focal length becomes more
challenging (In good light, though, I imagine that I could simply switch
off the IBIS.).
I will most likely start by adding the 45/1.8 (just need to find a
special). For social settings, the 17/1.8 (or 20/1.7, though it's about
$100 more here in Canada) would probably be good too. At the wide end,
I'll likely stick with 24mm equivalent zoom. 18-21mm can, at least in
theory, be covered with a panorama, though I've not tried that yet.
Best wishes,
Martin
