Thinking about Ken's quest for absolute stability for his enlarger.
I remember back in the day reading either Pop Photography or Modern
Photography, and they showed pics of their lens testing lab somewhere in
New York city with all its vehicular traffic and similar vibration-creating
activity.
I think it was in a basement (ie close to Mother Earth) and incorporated a
very large block of concrete AND a significant slab of steel - or a heavy rail
of steel.
Lots of inertia ( physics-speak there) provided, and I suspect there was
isolation from Mother earth as well.
