That's why I don't use LR. I tried, but I realized that it didn't do
anything else that I already was doing with PS/Bridge/ACR, and I thought the
database was too opaque. I found it hard to find things, so I'm back to
Bridge/ACR/PS and quite happy.

Thanks for the link but there's really nothing there that I didn't know.
I know the advantages of a database but I also know the effort
required to create a useful one. Adding keywords to tens of thousands
of images is just not in the cards for me. My existing folder structure
is perfectly adequate for my own use.. a date followed by a moderately
long description which already contains all the keywords I need. It's
rare that I actually find myself looking for images and even rarer to
spend more that a couple of minutes searching for something obscure.
Trying to add keywords to images to enable a searchable database would
simply be an incredible time waste for me.
Evening says: "For that matter how successful are you at navigating your
own Pictures folder? We have all struggled at times to locate a specific
file that we know is on the computer system somewhere." I'm sorry,
Martin, no I haven't. Simple as that.
