My "Friends" on Facebook have probably seen them, but I posted a
handful of pictures from New Year's Eve at a cousin's house. I used
the obscure OM Zuiko 28/2 lens on the even more obscure Panasonic
DMC-L1. The Panasonic was set for in-camera B&W JPEGs. Absolutely
NOTHING was done to those photos--just wireless transfer from camera
to iPad and from there direct post to Facebook.
Honestly, I'd say that they look purty good to me for digital B&W.
Granted, they are B&W prints, but for on-screen viewing, I think they
are remarkably pleasing. Well, I did blow focus on one, but included
it because content trumps technical.
I've just found a new "normal" lens for the DMC-L1. I've been using
the 24/2.8, but this lens really rocks. I'm reminded of Jim Nichol's
Leica 28mm lens he uses on the E-1 all the time. It's kinda like that.
I need to try it out on my E-1.
Obscure equipment sometimes works out.
