You remind me I was just telling Carol again my plan for picking presidents.
Before reaching the minimum age set out in the Constitution, all citizens are
required to take a test to weed out
psycho/sociopaths not clever enough to beat the test. (Well, OK, an IQ test,
too, but only 95 needed to pass.) If clever
enough to beat the test, they are as sane as some of our past presidents.*
Then there is a lottery. Loser is President, second loser is VP, and vacancies
on the Supreme court come next.
The 'winner' has the choice of serving in office or twice as long in prison.
Congress may still impeach, and if thrown
out or resigns, the prexy serves the time left in the original sentence.
There are details to be worked out. Probably best to put war powers back in the
Congress, for example.
After a couple of rounds of random citizen presidents, I expect a groundswell
for extending the idea to Congress and the
States. :-)

BTW, I enjoyed Nixon's presidency. Oh so smart and oh so bent, hardly a dull
moment before the end. The crook who opened
up China.
His whole political history is one of amazing opposites. Don't remember the
plan to eliminate the welfare system that he
and Democrat senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan cooked up? Check it out. You'll be
amazed and/or outraged. Talk about odd
political bedfellows ...
BBTW, the spell chucker suggested Mohandis in place of Moynihan. :-)
